"House" - Sketch
12" x 24" - Marker and Watercolor
During a class or workshop, I'm occasionally asked the question, "How would you do this subject?" On this occasion, the concept was flat space and the subject was a house in MA. Since these are generally quick sketches, I pulled out a sheet of bond paper and drew directly with a chisel tip Sharpie marker. I added a few color notes with watercolor and presto, my idea for a possible painting.
My only regret with these types of sketches is that I don't normally reach for a sheet of watercolor paper when I do them! I'd love to have this one on a good piece of paper, but then that's the breaks of the game. Nine times out of ten the sketch is just so-so, but every now and then I get a "keeper."
As Charlie Brown would say, "Drats!"
